Specific Transition Planning for Military Families:

At our school, we are deeply committed to supporting military families during transitions. We have a comprehensive program known as "Anchored for Life," organized by our professional school counselors. This program is specifically designed to provide guidance and support to military children and their families during the transition process.

In addition to Anchored for Life, we have a Military and Family Life Counselor (MFLAC) available on campus. Our MFLAC is a trusted resource for students and their families, offering emotional support, guidance, and a listening ear to help navigate the challenges of military life.

To ensure a smooth transition, our dedicated Military Point of Contact includes Katie McKenzie, Assistant Principal, and Marykate Underwood, School Counselor. They are readily available to assist military families in addressing any concerns or questions. They can be contacted at (850) 767-5075

Specific Academic Planning for Military Families:

Academic planning for military families is a top priority at our school. Our school counselors proactively meet with military families upon enrollment. We collect valuable parent input through forms, which help us make informed decisions regarding academic placements, ensuring that each student's educational needs are met.

Resources and Educational Opportunities for Military Children:

We believe in providing a wide array of educational opportunities for military children. Our school offers Talented and Gifted (TAG) classes, a STEAM Lab, Music and Art classes, Student Council, Chorus, and participation in Lego League/Robotics. These programs not only enhance students' academic experiences but also provide opportunities for personal growth and skill development.

Student-Led Transition Team:

Our Anchored for Life Club is a remarkable student-led transition team. It offers military students a variety of opportunities to learn, strengthen leadership skills, build character, enhance social skills, and boost self-esteem. This team plays a vital role in helping new military students feel welcomed and supported within the school community, emphasizing our commitment to their seamless integration.

Support for Military ESE Children:

We provide comprehensive support for military children with exceptional needs. Our services include Self-Contained, Resource, and Inclusion settings in grades K-5. We also offer Speech & Language services and Occupational & Physical therapies, as well as Social Skills groups and ESE counseling, ensuring that every student's individual requirements are met.

Military Recognition Events:

Our school proudly celebrates important military recognition events. In April, we joyously observe Purple Up Day, recognizing the resilience and strength of military children. We also acknowledge a student during the Month of the Military Child, highlighting their contributions and achievements within our school community.

Our dedicated teachers and staff take the time to commemorate significant events such as Veteran's Day and Memorial Day with their students, fostering a sense of appreciation and gratitude for the sacrifices made by our military community.

Access to Mental Health Services:

We understand the significance of mental health support for military children. To address their needs, we have an MFLAC counselor available on campus throughout the school year, offering a valuable resource for emotional and mental health support. Additionally, we have a Mental Health triad team on campus to further bolster our commitment to the well-being of our students. We offer Community of Care referrals to parents for students who may need additional mental health resources and services, ensuring that the necessary support is readily available.
